Over the span of a decade, Son Heung-min has evolved from a young Korean “kid” into a man—an icon adored not just in Asia, but around the world. Now 33, affectionately known as “Sonny” by fans in Hong Kong, Son returned to his homeland recently for a friendly against Newcastle. At the pre-match press conference, fighting back tears, he officially announced that this summer he will bid farewell to Tottenham Hotspur—bringing a remarkable chapter in North London to a dignified close.

Son joined Spurs in 2015 from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen. At the time, he was an unproven South Korean talent. A decade later, he leaves as a club legend. Across 454 appearances, Son has netted 173 goals for the club, including 127 goals and 81 assists in 333 Premier League matches. He holds the distinction of being the first Asian player to win the Golden Boot in one of Europe’s top five leagues. In his final season, Son captained Spurs to their first trophy in 17 years—hoisting the Europa League and cementing his legacy as one of the greatest Asian footballers of all time.

In 10 unforgettable years at Tottenham, Son delivered countless moments of brilliance. His signature camera-click goal celebration became a fan favorite, while each season brought goals that were not just impressive, but iconic. These 11 goals are not just highlights—they’re milestones in the making of a legend.

Let’s revisit 11 of Son Heung-min’s greatest Premier League goals:

After two seasons adapting to the English game, Son announced his arrival in spectacular fashion in the 2017/18 campaign against West Ham. From over 30 yards out, with barely a run-up, he unleashed a thunderbolt that left the keeper rooted. It was the moment he proved he belonged at the top level.

A season later, against London rivals Chelsea at home, Son lit up the right flank, slaloming past multiple defenders before finishing with poise—a solo run that oozed star quality.

While his right foot has done most of the damage, Son has shown he’s equally lethal with his left. In both the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, he struck stunning left-foot curlers from the edge of the box against Leicester, further proving he’s a two-footed assassin.

Then there was the 2020/21 North London Derby. Up against Arsenal, Son picked up the ball near the right edge of the area and bent in a majestic strike that curled beyond defenders and into the top corner. A derby goal for the ages.

But perhaps the most unforgettable came in the 2019/20 season against Burnley. In a 5–0 rout at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Son scored what many call the Premier League’s goal of the season—collecting the ball deep in his own half, then sprinting the length of the pitch, weaving past the entire Burnley defense before slotting it home. A solo goal that redefined the word “sensational.”
